As a resident of over 30 years, I object to the proposed development of 250 houses at Eastbrook, Dinas Powys, fearing it will worsen traffic, flooding, and environmental damage. I have witnessed increased traffic noise, fumes, and flooding, which I believe are inadequately addressed in the flood assessment report. I am concerned about the outdated monitoring data, the impact on wildlife habitats, and the potential strain on the ageing sewage system. I believe the development poses an unacceptable risk to the community, especially lower-lying residents affected by flooding.
As a resident I am writing to raise objection to the proposal to develop land at Eastbrook north of Dinas Powys for the purpose of 250 new build houses.
This I concur will have a detrimental effect on the community of Dinas Powys as a whole. As a resident for some 30+ years I have first hand experience and witnessed the ever increased traffic noise and fumes that occurs on a daily basis along Cardiff road to which my back garden faces.
This is especially concerning when traffic is idling as a result of gridlock!
Another concerning factor is the amount of flooding that Dinas Powys has experienced over several years. I am were extensively damaged by flooding. And this disturbingly has been omitted from A Strategic flooding assessment report! But later it mentions proposal to woodland planting to hold back rainstorm run of?
Yet the Vale of Glamorgan Council have been compliant to a development of replacement natural nature i.e Meadowland, Trees Hedgerows and soil with concrete and Tarmac!! Not to mention the irreplaceable loss of wildlife habitat, flora and fauna.
Boyer consultation illustrate that consideration in respect of current conditions on site and how the proposal scheme intends to deliver suitable mitigation to achieve an overall betterment from flood risk perspective.
I am interested to know how long ago this monitoring undertaken because it is clearly out of date and will be significantly by the time any future development takes place. Already to date there has been substantial rainfall everyday during months of January and February and the probability of more in the future!
This may not predominantly effect the said development considering it is geographically on higher ground. But it is the residents who live at the lower points of Dinas Powys that will be effected by flooding.
Not to mention the Archaic and outdated sewage system that will possibly not take any any further Blackwater from another 250+ houses + purge through it!
The brook opposite my property at Brookside has since the 2020 flooding, come close to breaching it's banks and awash onto Cardiff Road.
During heavy and prolonged rainfall water come up through manholes between Eastbrook station and St David's avenue junction with Cardiff Road. This again raises my concerns considering the main drains were flushed through along Cardiff Road some 2-3 years ago. The development therefore presents on unacceptable and avoidable risk to the community of Dinas Powys.
