The deposit plan will not have any positive impact on the welsh language. It will not provide any additional opportunities for the welsh language to be used. There are no plans for any education/social provision which could impact on welsh language use/development.

I strongly object to the proposal to build 250 houses on Cardiff Road, Dinas Powys. As a local resident, there are a number of factors that make this proposal completely untenable and disastrous for the local area both in the short and long term.
Traffic: Congestion along Cardiff Road is already a huge issue and has been for many years. Increased housing in Barry has exacerbated this problem, with Cardiff Road the main access route to Cardiff and beyond. Adding 250 houses next to a main road with daily traffic jams, especially at peak times, will further add to the congestion, having a detrimental effect on the environment and causing further disruption to already frustrated local residents.
Flooding: Dinas Powys has suffered from an increased flood risk over recent years - both from local rivers and insufficient residential drainage - both clearly visible on flood risk maps. The installation of flood barriers and flood prevention measures for numerous homes merely aims to reduce the impact of damage in the inevitable event of flooding - likely to further increase with the impact of climate change.
Building a significant number of houses with associated infastructure on green fields adjacent to Cardiff Road will inevitably contribute to raisedwater levels in both the Eastbrook River and the River Cadoxton, causing increased floodrisk to current homes. This is unacceptable.
Dinas Powys has developed 3 large housing developments over recent years, most recently a huge estate at Scholar's Park, formerly a large green space area. Building on green field land separating Dinas Powys
from Llandough will destroy a vast wildlife area and will remove one of the last significant green spaces in the village, decreasing biodiversity and eco-system resilience. This will also adversely affect the health and wellbeing of local people, replacing nature with another congested housing development.
Active Travel: This is currently an issue for local residents. Eastbrook Station is inaccessible for many people due to the steps/bridge to access both sides of the platform. The proposed site has poor access to the station due to the narrow pavements and proximity to the Cardiff Road. This is not a successful example of 'active travel' and will more likely result in more car journeys for potentially 500 additional cars.
Local Services - Medical/Education: These are at capacity. Adding significant additional housing without
considering the impact on education and GP accessibility is irresponsible
