Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

I support permanent council housing on this site, the quicker the temporary units are removed the better.
Space needs to be left on site for a much needed health centre.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

At the January 2026 Town Council meeting, we discussed the future of the former Eagleswell School site. The Vale of Glamorgan Council plans to develop housing there once temporary units are removed, with ongoing support for a new Health Centre, though there has been no firm commitment from the Health Board. We will continue to advocate for the Health Centre and also petition for a new Old People's Care Facility on the site, to serve Llantwit Major’s ageing population and meet the current demand for pensioners’ accommodation.

Non detrimental to the Welsh language.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

We note that the proposal is to co-locate health and social care facilities and for the Vale of Glamorgan Council (VoG) to engage with Cardiff and the Vale University Health Board to explore opportunities for the co-location of health and social care services within new community space. The land at the former Eagleswell Road School site has been identified for redevelopment and the Town Council wishes to re-emphasise that this site is used for health and social care. Llantwit Major has an increasing population, a significant number of which are aging and the current health and social care facilities for the town and its neighbouring areas (especially St Athan proposals) are inadequate and in some cases outdated. This is an ideal opportunity to use this site appropriately for the residents and we wish the deposit LDP to recognise this.

Ymatebydd: Persimmon Homes (East Wales)

Asiant : Boyer Planning

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Persimmon Homes acknowledges the Council’s position in respect of Site HG3 (1) – Former Eagleswell Primary School, including the temporary five-year consent (2024–2029) for 90 units of short-term accommodation and their inclusion within housing completions for monitoring purposes.
Given their expressly temporary nature and planned relocation to other sites within the Vale by 2029, it is essential that these units are not double counted in a way. As the risk of doing so would artificially inflate the Vale’s housing numbers, thereby preventing delivery opportunities elsewhere over the plan period.
Although we welcome the clarification provided at paragraph 6.111 which states that once the temporary units are removed and the site is redeveloped for permanent accommodation, any future dwellings will not be included within the RLDPs housing supply figures.

This approach is critical given the Vale’s substantial existing landbank and the number of allocations being rolled forward, as cumulatively factoring in additional units from this site would further constrain opportunities to accommodate genuine growth elsewhere. Thereby limiting the Council’s ability to effectively meet local housing need up to 2036.
