When my wife and I bought our current house we expressed concern about the volume of traffic on Cardiff Road even them. At the time my wife worked for Penarth Town Council who's Chief Surveyor assured us that a Bypass would be built. That was more than 50 years ago. That hope was finally dashed when Mark Drakeford of the Labour controlled Senedd decreed that no new roads would be built in Wales. Over the years the traffic has increased exponentially. There have been huge development in Barry causing serious gridlock in our village throughout the day. How in the name of sanity can this proposal be entertained. An extra set of traffic light would cause even more traffic jams.
To get a doctor's appointment my wife and I have to start ringing on the dot of 8.00 a.m. on separate phones and even then there is no guarantee we will get an appointment that day, no matter how critical our situation [we are both in our eighties] Again, in the name of sanity, how will the Surgery cope with another 750 - 1,000 patients.
We are being assured the proposed development does not present a flood risk. Tell that to the residents who were flooded in 2020. Have any of you Councillors walked those fields between January and March? The water has to go somewhere.
If you look on Dinas Powys chat, and I respectfully suggest you do, you will see the proposed plan, if implemented, will be against the will of the Electorate who put you in power and would the final nail in the coffin for Dinas Powys existing as a village. If voted for it would probably put a stop to any future political ambitions you may harbour.
