This may impact schools. Welsh Language education is something very important to me as someone brought up through the Welsh Language. The proposed scheme may impact admissibility for neighbouring Welsh Schools. None of the communication about the 250 homes priorities the Welsh Governments ambition to reach 1 million Welsh speakers by 2050. It would negatively impact the Welsh Language feel and identity of the village.
As a resident of Dinas Powys, living on Murch Crescent within 1km of the proposed site, I strongly object to this development. The village lacks the infrastructure to support 250 houses. The scheme relies on an already congested road network that has operated at or beyond capacity for years. The level of traffic on Cardiff Road directly effects my commute, and at certain hours of the day, already struggles to operate. Local schools, and NHS services are overstretched. Parking at Eastbrook station is routinely full. The bus services in the area are not fit for purpose. Development here would increase flood risk, potentially affecting nearby properties and cause unacceptable ecological harm. It would erode Green Belt land and fundamentally alter the character and identity of the village, including negatively upon Welsh Language and culture.
