Weycock Cross roundabout is already difficult to negotiate even at non-rush hour times. it is the main route into Barry and Cardiff from the west of Vale of Glamorgan. Airport traffic has to negotiate this too. There is a lack of public transport. not many stops and even less buses. residents of any new development would have to use cars as both the transport and walking to the local schools would be impractical. Similarly getting to the small railway station in Barry would involve driving adding to the already bad parking around there.

As part of the Vale practice group of doctors surgeries, I know already have problems with appointments. they would be unable to cope with additional residents. Barry hospital only treats minor injuries, more serious cases would have the extra traffic with which to contend. There are some schools in the area but they are probably near capacity, apart from the already mentioned school runs.

the area proposed is on a green wedge site which is intended to separate developments. To develop this is unsettling. Furthermore, the drainage runoff from new houses, drives and roads would cause severe flooding problems, especially those residential areas downhill.

I oppose the development plan as it doe snot address the problems already existing but would make them many times worse. it would not be an improvement to the well-being of Vale residents.

If all the new proposed houses are sold to Welsh speakers then obviously there would be a positive effect on Welsh being spoken locally.
