My first concern is currently there is insufficient infrastructure to support the level of development proposed. The surrounding area is already too congested, and existing roads regularly struggle to cope with the amount of traffic. Building a large number of additional homes will inevitably increase vehicle and place further strain on roads that are already operating beyond reasonable capacity. In addition, local public services are already under considerable pressure. Schools in the area are at capacity and local GP surgeries are struggling to accommodate the current population. The surrounding area has not really changed in the last 30 years. Dinas Powys bypass was first proposed around 1977 and the route safeguarded. It was on the councils development plan 1996-2011. We are still waiting. While we are continuing to have new development forced on us in the Vale of Glamorgan. Average family fomes have changed, possibly having 3 or more cars per household. The reads are in a terrible state full of potholes because of the traffic and heavier vehicles etc. Without substantial investment in supporting infrastructure the proposed development would have a detrimental impact on the quality of life, existing residents and the wider community.
