The proposals are not expected to have any adverse effects on the Welsh language. The redevelopment of the former Aberthaw Power Station as the Cardiff Capital Region Aberthaw Green Energy Park will support sustainable economic growth, create highly skilled employment, and provide training and education opportunities, helping to retain and attract local communities. Engagement, skills initiatives, and community facilities associated with the site can further promote the use and visibility of Welsh, contributing positively to the social and cultural well-being of the Vale of Glamorgan.
CCR Energy welcomes the RLDP Sustainable Growth Strategy’s focus on regeneration of previously developed and under-utilised land, including the former Aberthaw Power Station. Safeguarding the site as a Green Energy Park presents a unique opportunity to deliver renewable and low-carbon energy projects, battery storage, a zero-carbon manufacturing cluster, and a green energy innovation centre. Complemented by a biodiverse ecology park and visitor amenities, the proposals will create highly skilled jobs, support industrial decarbonisation, and contribute significantly to climate change mitigation. The strategy and forthcoming Masterplan provide a strong framework to enable the successful regeneration of this strategically important site.
