The points do not offer enough protection of existing open space and do not actively discourage them being used for development enough. Stronger protections are required for our existing open space within the Vale.
There should be stronger and more stringent limitations on development of open spaces. Residents views should be directly taken into account as opposed to purely the views of professional planners and ecologists. Whilst a hedgerow/field may not from an ecological point of view offer good habitat for a range of species it may provide oversized joy to local residents and may be the only green space visible from their house for example. There should be more quantifiable points such as: if the space holds more than x amount of species or provides a habitat for certain key species it should be excused from development.
