There needs to be more weight given to the different types of food growing spaces that can be provided in association with new development - large or small, commensurate to the size of development.
We need to move away from the view we should ask for growing spaces only on larger housing sites. Community allotments are fine but we also need smaller blank canvass spaces for food growing that communities can take ownership of. These are not capital intensive asks. We need to raise awareness of the different types of food growing spaces that can be provided.

SP13 - COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE AND PLANNING OBLIGATIONS
Preferred wording -
The Council will look to secure high quality secure new and improved community infrastructure, facilities, and services appropriate and commensurate to the scale, type, and location of proposed developments using planning obligations. Viability of site delivery will be a material consideration. Community infrastructure may include the provision, improvement and long-term maintenance of:
• Community growing spaces of different types and scales commensurate to the scale and type of development. such as allotments
6.230 The preferred approach will always be for developers to provide facilities and infrastructure on site to serve the future occupiers of the development.
