How is developing high density housing estates with several hundred houses protecting the environment or countryside. The Reader Way proposal will build over one of the last green wedges here taking away habitat (foxes, slow-worms, voles, mice. hedgehogs, owls, bats etc etc), hedgerows and prime agricultural land. Local air quality will be reduced significantly affecting children and older residents. The development at Readers Way is completely at odds with the Welsh Govt;s stated environmental and climate emergency.
Green wedge sites should be protected from excessive high density development where wildlife and air quality will be destroyed. Flood risk to local residents will increase due to lack of absorption from green fields together with run-off changes. Protection of the countryside should apply to all the Vale communities, not just a privileged few. Green wedges should be protected at all costs when there are only a few left.
