I see not logical reason to build these houses at Weycock Cross. This development is bad news for all people in the Vale of Glamorgan.

(1) Traffic congestion on Port and Pontypridd Roads + pollution, increases of vehicles etc. with no adequate mitigation. Hundreds of houses built in the Vale all creating extra traffic channelled down A4226 through Barry which is currently above capacity. Need a relief road before adding more traffic to the artery.
(2) Inadequate services for existing demands, GPs and health services dentists, schools, Welsh Water (Dwr Cymru) continually release raw sewage into the sea, they can’t handle current workloads, no more should be added until they upgrade to cope with existing and future demands.
(3) Public transport is totally inadequate or non-existent for the locality.
(4) Passing the Buck. Informing organisations of plans is not good enough. You need to work with the NHS Wales, Welsh water (sewerage), Welsh Assembly and others to develop sustainable plans.
(5) Urban coalescence and sprawl towards Cardiff Airport and Rhoose with no regard for the Green and Environmental Spaces. There are Skylarks nesting in the field these are on the red list species in the UK, otters living there.
(6) Refuge collection Vale of Glamorgan Council Refuge collection is struggling to meet current demands.
(7) Are these Houses Necessary? Vale of Glamorgan has been building houses at a rate of 7.55% annually for a population growth of 4.1%. with a fertility rate of 1.38 which has been in decline for over a decade and will continue to decline.
(8) Not Support by the Welsh Assembly - Plans have been criticised by Assembly members. See article in the Barry and District. Also every single party looking for this seat in the Welsh Assemble is against it.
(9) Wrong type of housing! Vale of Glamorgan Regional Development Officer said we needed houses for single people who are in the later stages of life. This development plan does not fit their needs, and its location would be totally wrong.
Summary
This development is not needed, doesn’t resolve any issues, and will create more and bigger issues. Wrong type of development in the wrong location at the wrong time.
