I would like to express my objections to the above-referenced planning proposal. Whilst I agree new houses are needed, I totally disagree with the positioning of the proposed housing development. They will be placed on a much-needed natural drainage area, resulting in an increased risk of flooding of the established houses. Along with the subsequent environmental consequences. Cardiff Road and the junction by the Merrier Harrier public house are already very congested, with no meaningful way of increasing road capacity or the possible introduction of viable "active travel" lanes, as the road is largely too narrow and surrounded by houses on both sides. How will A4055 cope with increased traffic? The infrastructure in Dinas Powys is already stretched to its limit with over-subscribed schools, GPs, dentists etc. The public transport provision is inadequate, especially for busy residents who need to get their children to school and themselves to work by the required time. Dinas Powys is a village with beautiful green spaces, walkways, and areas of natural beauty that add character and charm to the village. This development will severely impact the village greenbelt, the environment, and the quality of living environment in the village. As a council that is driven by the environment, green policies, and an anti-car agenda, are there plans to increase the bus provision? Will these houses be carbon neutral? Will they all have solar panels? Will trees be planted as an offset to the removal of a greenfield site? How will the children fit into already over-subscribed schools? Please consider the negative impact this housing estate will have on an already overpopulated area with limited infrastructure.
