I believe the proposed development of 250 homes will cause significant traffic congestion, especially along Cardiff Road, by adding 500-750 vehicles, similar to issues seen at Southra Park. Water runoff from Eastbrook may increase flooding and sewage problems in the area. Local healthcare and education facilities are already at capacity, and the additional residents would strain them further. The development threatens wildlife habitats and the Greenbelt. Parking shortages at local stations will worsen traffic and extend rush hours. Overall, I feel this proposal would harm Dinas Powys’s community and environment.

1. The proposal for 250 homes will lead (if Southra Park is exampled) to between 500-750 additional vehicles along Cardiff Road. This will choke Dinas Powys, Llandough and Penarth access. The long abandoned Dinas Powys bypass plan would have prevented this!
2. Water run off from the Eastbrook will enter the Cadoxton River and see an increase in flooding along Cardiff Road, Southra Park and Sunnycroft. There will also be an increase in sewage!
3. Doctors surgeries and schools in the area are already operating at high capacity; an increase of of 500-750 more patients and pupils will surely break them.
4. Wildlife habitat will be irreparably damaged and a large area of the Greenbelt to the north east of Dinas Powys gone forever. Are these areas are not meant to be protected?
5. Eastbrook and Cogan stations are sadly under-resourced for vehicle parking. This will lead to the new residents taking their vehicles into Cardiff thus increasing traffic jams and extending the rush hours.
6. Dinas Powys is losing its 'village' identity. This proposal will be another nail in that coffin.
