I object to the housing development north of Dinas Powys due to concerns over worsening traffic congestion and drainage problems. The proposal relies heavily on public transport and active travel, which is unrealistic given current congestion and hazardous cycling conditions. Statements claiming sufficient capacity and minimal delays are contradicted by existing traffic issues. Additionally, drainage plans appear to ignore downstream effects, particularly in vulnerable areas like Sunnycroft estate. Overall, I believe the proposal underestimates the severity of existing problems and the impact of the development.
I object to the proposal for major housing development north of Dinas Powys (HG1KS2) on the grounds of exacerbating existing major problems with traffic congestion and drainage.
The proposal is based heavily on the use of public transport and active travel (para.421). The "worst case scenario" is based on this assumption, with "transport improvements (which?) and the Sustainable Transport Strategy" (para. 4.21). The STS is a policy, not a practical solution. Buses are already affected by the existing heavy congestion and cycling is particularly hazardous.
It is ridiculous to state that there is "sufficient spare capacity and queuing and delays are minimal" (para. 2.6) given the existing congestion, and "the proposal is UNLIKELY to have a SEVERE impact on the key junctions and the free flow of traffic (para.4.20), when the existing heavy congestion is self evident and elsewhere it's suggested that improvements will be needed.
The drainage proposals seem to focus entirely on the proposed development site ( in itself affected by the topography and several streams) and ignore the predictable effects downstream in at risk areas like Sunnycroft estate.
