I object to the housing development on Cardiff Road, Dinas Powys, due to concerns about infrastructure, flooding, pollution, and community impact. The existing transport links are inadequate and congested, and active travel routes are unsafe. Building on green space would damage habitats and strain local services like schools and healthcare. Dinas Powys is already vulnerable to flooding, and additional sewage discharge could worsen pollution in nearby waters. Finally, the development threatens the village’s identity and community cohesion.

I object on the grounds that this is not an appropriate site for this development.
Transport - The infrastructure in Dinas Powys & surrounding areas is not sufficient to cope with the level of demand that this new development would require. Transport links are already difficult with an extreme level of congestion, particularly at peak times. The train times have changed which makes it difficult to travel by train to Cardiff centre and even with more frequent trains, many families struggle to use public transport or active travel for work given the school drop-off and pick-up times. The active travel routes are unacceptable for the area making this not only impractical but unsafe.
Flooding - Dinas Powys is already a flood risk area and building on nearby land without significantly upgrading the infrastructure will lead to more problems with flooding.
Sewage discharge - This is also an area with beautiful coast and many people enjoy water activities in the sea which already suffers with pollution and will suffer more sewage discharge from these new homes negatively affecting peoples' health and wellbeing.
Habitats and green space - Building on this green space will destroy habitats which will be detrimental to an already struggling ecosystem. Doctors and schools in Dinas Powys are already struggling and this development will increase pressure on local services.
Village identity - finally, the village identity in Dinas Powys should be protected. It is the size of the community that allows local groups like Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern and the Dinas Powys Music Festival to thrive. As a village, local residents feel pride in our community and eroding the boundaries will be detrimental to that.
