Not enough infrastructure to support 360 families in Barry west, current traffic gridlocks to be worsened, schools overtaxed for locals.
Houses in current development too small and unfit for families, fewer gardens or green space, more realistic regulation needed.
Eradication of green space and much loved woodland, devaluing of existing homes, numerous protests make the people's thoughts clear and must be acknowledged.
The infrastructure at Weycock Cross cannot handle another housing development. The traffic at the roundabout is the main route into Cardiff and regularly gridlocks, especially being a major route to all major schools, shops and to the airport and rest of the Vale.
Drs surgeries, schools and dentists are struggling to accommodate the growing demand in Barry with no new sites being built to support the influx of housing being built. The council clearly are not considering these implications when there is money to be made.
In addition, the fields and woodland at Weycock Cross are one of the few green spaces left for mental wellbeing. Current residents will see the value of their homes plummet, and the current infrastructure will be thrown into chaos.
The houses being built around the vale are unrealistically small and cannot sustain families in the way modern life demands. There are no gardens and more concrete as developers try to fit the most houses into the space possible to maximise profit, and the houses themselves, made of plastic panelling, look scruffy and will detract from one of the few nice areas Barry has left.
The protests made against this development and the narrow margin by which it passed by greedy council members speak for themselves.
The council knows this development is not in the best interests of the town, and if they choose to ignore the people's views they will once again prove their ignorance of the wishes of the people they claim to represent.
