Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

Have a cohesive transport plan. The town needs it. We are living at present where there are more people living here but less and less transport provision for local residents.

Rhoose isnt mentioned here and yet it is taking some 10 percent of growth. St Athan has no certainty of a train station. It is not part of the metro.

Ymatebydd: Cardiff Capital Region Energy

Effeithiau ar y Gymraeg:

The proposals are not expected to have any adverse effects on the Welsh language. The redevelopment of the former Aberthaw Power Station as the Cardiff Capital Region Aberthaw Green Energy Park will support sustainable economic growth, high-quality employment, and skills development, helping to retain and attract local communities. By integrating with regional transport improvements, including potential rail services at St Athan and Aberthaw, the development can enhance accessibility and community cohesion, further supporting the use and visibility of Welsh and contributing positively to the social and cultural well-being of the Vale of Glamorgan.

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

CCR Energy welcomes the RLDP’s emphasis on focusing development in locations well served by existing and proposed rail infrastructure, including the South Wales Metro. The redevelopment of the former Aberthaw Power Station as the Cardiff Capital Region Aberthaw Green Energy Park aligns with these objectives, supporting trip generation that can underpin a new rail station at St Athan. The proposals complement wider regional transport initiatives, including opportunities for additional freight and passenger services at Aberthaw / St Athan, promoting sustainable transport, reducing car dependency, and supporting the Vale of Glamorgan’s ambitions for low-carbon, accessible, and well-connected communities.

Ymatebydd: Persimmon Homes (East Wales)

Asiant : Boyer Planning

Crynodeb o'r Gynrychiolaeth:

The Deposit RLDP explains that whilst reducing the need to travel is a key policy objective, it is recognised that there are journeys that will need to be made by other modes of transport, particularly due to the strong relationship with Cardiff as a designation for employment, retail and entertainment. As such the proposed growth strategy seeks to locate development in places that are inherently well served by sustainable transport in line with the Vale of Glamorgan’s transport hierarchy.

Persimmon supports these principles and recognises the importance of prioritising development in sustainable locations across the regions, particular those well connected to Cardiff city centre. Paragraph 5.18 of the Deposit Plan states that “Targeting new development to the settlements that are served by the rail network is a key part of the strategy, as it will facilitate journeys being made by means other than the car”. Persimmon wholly agree with this approach on the basis that this would enable the RLDP to achieve a more sustainable pattern of development and in doing so support growth over the emerging plan period.
