I believe that this proposal is necessary to ensure that there is not 'urban creep' of Llantwit Major into the rural vale. Llanmaes is a separate community and whilst currently part of the Llantwit Major electoral organisation will not be in the future. Llanmaes is a rual community with agricultural traffic and regular horse movements through the village and joining onto Llantwit Major would have a significant detrimental effect on the village. This green wedge would protect the setting of the Llanmaes Conservation Area.
