Rhoose has been identified as a Primary Settlement, reflecting the range of services and facilities available. The current services and facilities are insufficient for the size that the village has now grown into. New housing developments have, in the past, failed in their commitment to provide shops and community spaces – the Rhoose Point development is a case in point – land defined for facilities lay undeveloped for years and then housing was built on it. Transparency and accountability by the council is essential if ‘contribution towards’ replaces actual provision.
