1 The proposed access onto the main road through Aberthin will add to an already dangerous stretch of road which has heavy traffic,. The volume of traffic has increased considerably over many years mainly due to the building of hundreds houses in Ystradowen and beyond. More houses are also proposed in that village which will produce even more traffic cutting through Aberthin to Cowbridge and up to the A48 via Penylan Road which is a dangerous lane. This access problem was recognized many years ago when The Spinney was built and the old entrance to Skaife House was closed off. A pedestrian crossing has not been allowed due to the very sharp bend in the village around the Farmers Arms which makes crossing the road very hazardous.
2. The field to be developed is on the flood plain which could lead to flooding of the existing houses.
3. The development adjoins the conservation area and will be detrimental to the aspect from it.
I am writing to oppose the development of houses in the field behind Maes Lloi, Aberthin for the following reasons.
