This proposed development is subject to call in by Welsh Government. The Planning Officer recommended refusal on the basis of impact on the open countryside. In addition, development here will irrevocably impact the village (and nearby town centre) and undoubtedly result in the coalescence both physical and visual of Llantwit Major and Llanmaes. This area is outside the strategic growth area. Further, it will fundamentally impact the conservation area and does not fit with the agreed management plan thereof.
Reject the retail development and endorse the green wedge application to protect the village from sustained development proposals. These are very stressful for the local community as well as being extremely time consuming and expensive to oppose.
