Placemaking is a joke. This policy destroys existing communities. There can be zero benefit from imposing huge inner city density housing estates on the green outskirts of smaller communities with little or no infrastructure or facilities. The resulting gridlock and poorer air quality together with the destruction of green spaces and hedgerow habitats can never be undone. History shows that all developments of this nature result in isolated communities and commuter brick box deserts. There is nothing of benefit to existing communities.
The Authority need to revise their ideological fantasy policies around creating communities and active travel and recognise what happens in the real world outside of their offices and computers. We recognise the need for housing but better use of brownfield sites where more high-rise could be built together with smaller (max 100) developments that will have less local impact and therefore more community acceptance and nicer places to live..
