I am concerned that adding 50 new homes to the St James development in Wick will significantly increase traffic and congestion on our sole access point, affecting safety for residents and pedestrians. Having lived here nine years, I value the open fields and spacious environment, which contribute to our quality of life. The proposed development would alter the area's character, making it feel enclosed and overdeveloped. I urge the planning authority to reconsider the proposal, considering its impact on residents, infrastructure, and the community's character.
I would suggest you do not move forward with the proposal
As a resident of the St James development in Wick, I have serious concerns regarding the impact this proposal will have on our community. Our estate, which already serves approximately 120 homes, has only a single access and exit point. Introducing a further 50 properties will inevitably lead to a significant increase in traffic volume, placing additional pressure on an access route that is already heavily relied upon. This raises concerns not only about congestion, but also about safety for residents, pedestrians, and children living on the estate.
Having lived here for nine years, one of the most valued aspects of this community has been the surrounding open fields and sense of space. These green boundaries contribute greatly to residents’ quality of life and wellbeing. The addition of 50 new houses would fundamentally change the character of the area, creating a feeling of being enclosed and overdeveloped, and eroding the open aspect that originally made this a desirable place to live.
For these reasons, I strongly urge the planning authority to reconsider this proposal and take into full account the impact on existing residents, infrastructure, and the character of the area.
