This land is unsuitable for housing, as it is on a water course, it is in a prime area of outstanding natural beauty, and the Heritage Coastline , and Heritage Coastal Path. A very popular family holiday destination and campsite, many individuals and families come from near and far to holiday here, and enjoy the walks and the beaches.
There is a development opposite in the old Blind Home which is more appropriate.
This land is not infill land , it is an area of natural beauty which should be preserved for future generations to enjoy.

This site is in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the Heritage Jurassic Coast Path. The existing campsite attracts hundreds of tourists to the area every year, providing a wonderful place to holiday and explore the area. We already have the Blind Home redevelopment in place and more housing will turn Southerndown into a much larger village losing its appeal as a tourist attraction. We need to hang onto a unspoilt places of calm and tranquility along our coastline for people’s enjoyment. I believe this site is on an underground watercourse and has caused flooding to the pub adjacent.
