The proposed housing development will fundamentally damage the village character of our community. We lack the necessary infrastructure and facilities to support such expansion, and the increased population will place unsustainable pressure on local services—particularly the school, which is already stretched beyond capacity

Development such as this in a rural hamlet would not be appropriate or in line with regional development plan strategy.
The campsite is an important local facility, supporting tourism in the area. There are no other similar campsites available. There is already a problem with illegal wild camping that would worsen.

I believe that increasing housing in Southerndown would harm its status as an area of outstanding natural beauty, turning it into overpopulated and degraded like Ogmore by Sea. The existing campsite fosters community spirit, especially in summer, and benefits local businesses. It provides a valuable, affordable outdoor experience for visitors exploring the coast. The area is peaceful, and the upcoming development of the ‘Old Blind Home’ will be nearby. I oppose further housing due to concerns over sewage, flooding, increased noise, traffic, and litter, and believe the appeal should be rejected.

This is a popular holiday destination, to build houses on a tourist attraction and campsite is not appropriate.
The campsite is unsafe for development as it is on a water course.
There is a development opposite this site in the old Blind Home which is suitable. The building of houses is not in keeping with the nature of the area, and is not “infill” land, it is spoiling an area of outstanding natural beauty, and a busy holiday destination.
To build in these rare areas of outstanding beauty is depriving future generations. Once gone it is lost forever.
