The area is already very congested and at times is akin to a car park. This would be a dangerous area to encourage cycling or walking unless drastic action to improve the road is taken. Small changes will not improve the safety or traffic flow. As the airport is increasing its flights and a college is being built the council has already ensured the road is over its natural capacity makes the whole area around Pontypridd road a misery for local residents. Rhoose and St Athens increases will create total gridlock & extreme frustration especially for school runs.
I don't agree with the plan to expand cycle and pedestrian routes around Port Road as it can be a dangerous road to travel along. The public transport is totally inadequate and this site is too far away from train stations. I also don't see any mention of elderly or disabled residents!

The road from Rhoose to Barry MUST have a payment and/or cycle lane. This should have been done years ago.

6.193 It is impossible to see how the development at North West Barry 'will deliver part of the 1.7-mile route, along the frontage of the site' without contributing to the already overloaded flow of traffic on the routes in and out of Barry. The measures suggested cannot possibly 'mitigate' the density of increased traffic this development will incur. That the options offered will improve the situation seems wishful thinking. The data collection appears thin and unsubstantiated. It appears the planners have cherry-picked data to at arrive at a conclusion already held in advance. We are not persuaded.

This is a route which will join up two existing shared use paths and has potential to be a valuable leisure and active travel route. Ebikes enable people to commute longer distances so it has the potential enable modal shift from car to cycle.

Current active travel routes are not suitable and hardly used by cyclists who use the raods instead for some reasons probably as the surface is dipped in areas and car users park on them as in Rhoose. Also sections are created in areas but the track is not continuous and then deter users as the main road is too dangerous for cycliste and families with children.Active routes should be created as in the Netherlands, they would be much better and safer!

A pedestrian and cycling route will be a big improvement and allow both safer travel and recreational walking/cycling. As a user of these routes in my area my main request is that they are more regularly cleaned by road sweeper and little pickers. When walking it's disappointing to see how much rubbish accumulates along routes and often after heavy rain and storms the amount of dropped branches and leaves can make cycling hazardous.

The active travel route is very expensive nad has land ownership problems between rhoose and barry. Can it really be implemented in the plan period?
The bus routes for Rhoose need checking - there is only one proper bus an hour as a bus the 905 which travels a mile is hardly a proper bus route. The active travel route is very expensive nad has land ownership problems between rhoose and barry. Can it really be implemented in the plan period?
