The proposed inclusion of land in Wick for development is not sufficiently justified by local evidence. While the VOG has a recognised need for additional housing, no Wick specific housing needs assessment has been presented to demonstrate that development of this scale is proportionate to the villages size, character and infrastructure capacity. Affordable housing need does not automatically justify this oversized development of Wick. Wicks status as a minor rural settlement, countryside protection and creeping village expansion have to be considered. It should be more suited to towns and strategic growth areas. Existing drainage and sewage infrastructure is limited.
